Aquafan

AQUAFAN, THE STORY CONTINUES .

It was 1987 and there were questions in the air such as: “How can we take the sea up to the hills: given that we have the most beautiful coastline in Europe?” Now we know exactly how it happened. Engineer Moretti was a businessman/innovator with his own vision. He had clear and precise ideas: a holiday destination located close to the motorway exit, with big car-parks, and with water-slides such as never before seen in Italy. Twenty-four years on, the success of Aquafan still continues. The figures confirm the words of Claudio Villa, Director general of the park since 1995: “The secret of Aquafan’s success until now is that it is constantly able to renew itself. We always have a big following amongst young people, along with use by those families of original fans who are now adults. Our visitors in the 1980s and 1990s come back accompanied by their children “. The park which covered 70,000 m² in 1987 now extends for over 90,000 m², with yet more watergames, more parking-spaces and constant surprises by day and night. The total length of all the water-slides at Aquafan is over 3 km: ranging from the Kamikaze tothe Tobogas, from the Extreme River to the Speedriul, from the River Run to the Surfin’hill, and from the Twist to the Fiume Lento. The wave pool is still one of the largest in existence. Special machinery recreates real ocean waves, and is capable of moving 8.000 cubic metres of warm, purified water, using cutting edge technology designed to avoid any waste. Aquafan hosts a great natural heritage, being planted with about 10,000 trees and shrubs: species chosen for the landscape design on the basis of their natural harmony with the environment. The story of Aquafan is also characterized by lively night-time activity, in the form of the Walky Cup Disco, set up in 1988 and the nocturnal stage for Radio Deejay, with artistic direction first by Claudio Cecchetto, and then Linus, and with the presence of the best-loved DJs and music from Italian radio. This is where the great success of Jovanotti first began, and where an entertainer called Fiorello celebrated his TV début with Deejay Beach Television. Here also two boys from Mantova decided to call themselves 883. Nowadays, Aquafan stages special evening events: concerts, themed evenings and shows. Aquafan is not a “simple” aquatic park: inside its grounds can be found the Laboratory of Perceptions, which has the task of monitoring the requirements of every attraction targeted by visitors. The collaboration with Radio Deejay and other partners, the constant organization of new events, the themed areas dedicated to children and to the hi-tech world have all made the Park into an observatory and laboratory of great interest to companies, sociologists, universities and the mass media. Summer 2010 represents Aquafan’s 24th season and the park will be equipped with a new, important attraction which will be used by 1.500 people every hour. This Summer, as before, the entrance ticket for Aquafan will be valid for two days, thanks to the Park’s promotional offer: “The second day, come in free whenever you want”.
